“Pointing the Way” - Art and Design in the Community

“Pointing the Way” is a unique art experience that brings youth at George Junior Republic together with various communities throughout the state , the William H. Gladden Career and Technical Center, local merchants, and the community. Under the direction of art and vocational instructors, students participate by creating two sculptural signs each year directing drivers to public parking in the downtown area.

A five-year cooperative program between George Junior Republic and the Olde Town Grove City Revitalization Committee, “Pointing the Way” is part of the overall mission of helping at-risk youth feel a greater connection to the community while developing talents and abilities they may never have discovered before.

“Pointing the Way” is a part of the Art2O Afterschool Arts program at George Junior Republic and is financially supported in part from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Erie Arts and Culture, and dedicated community members.
