Meeting the Treatment Needs of Youth

The community-based group home at George Junior Republic in Indiana houses eight adolescent males, ages 14 to 21, who have been adjudicated as delinquent or Children in Need of Services (CHINS). The group home accepts youth with diverse emotional, mental, and behavioral disorders including but not limited to:

  • Reactive Attachment Disorder
  • Conduct Disorder
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Anxiety and Depressive Disorders
  • Substance Use Disorders

George Junior Republic is unable to accept youth with a history of arson, sexual perpetration, extreme physical aggression, or MRDD (cut off at an IQ of 70). However, George Junior Republic will assess each youth individually for his ability to function in the group home and may consider accepting such youth who have previously completed a treatment program for those specific issues and are in need of a step-down facility.
